Hi

I have been treating this fish in a hospital tank and im realy considering putting him down as hes been poorly for months now wih suspected heximita. I know people try to help with asking about water stats stock size but I cant keep posting them up and hes in a hospital tank anyways.

Ive tried most things on this fish but ive come to the point were I dont think its HEX and a strain of something nothing will cure the fish is gettin worse and im at the point of wanting to pull my main tank down and start again as no illness matches up to this one my fish has got!!

Treaments have been ocotzin, esha heximita, flubenzole, myaxin, protozin and last ive tried was metronidazole but this has also failed!

Pics are included I how someone can work out what this it if not ive only got 2 options let him suffer or put him to sleep.

The fish is eating his poo is now normal after the metro the spot on his head never goes away just keeps filling back up a few days after any treament no matter how sterile the tank, The fish also has a hole in its gill plate and 2 growths on its other and its back anal fin has a rotting hole!

And yes ive treated for body rot to no effect!

Awe :( Its a gorgeous fish!

I had a gourami recently that I had to put to sleep because everything i tried failed to make him better. He was old and just couldnt go on :(

Best of luck :)

It looks like a Skin ulcer yeah due to a bacterial infection. Is he old? He could just be stressed, or just too weak to fit it off. It happens. Is he really that bad off that you think putting him down would be best? You can't just let him live out his life in the hospital tank?

Maybe if you stop all meds and just work on doing lots of water changes it might help him. I know that water changes can be like a breath of fresh air and really perk up a fish. All the meds could be weakening him putting stress on his body. I would stop all treatment and just do regular water changes keep him as comfortable as you can.

Good luck with that. Fish illnesses suck don't they.

This site has some good photos of fish illnesses.

Ulcers can ulcerate into a hole.
Ulcers are pink or red with a circling of dead white tissue around the edges.

what have you done to date?

what are the water parameters & changing regime?

what is all that green crap doing in a hospital tank?

could do with some better pics.
