Well i have had my tank for about 9 months now. The filter is a tetra easy crystal filter box. Over the last few days it has stopped sucking up water like it used to??. changed the filter cartridge last week.

Any way do you no how to turn it up or do you have any ideas why it isnt sucking up water. Any help will be very very much loved!

try opening it up and adjusting the spinner thingy

Im only 14.... i dont no how to open it up.... sorry...

im to scared to open it up incase it brakes... my mum and dad will really shout...

Perhaps you can ask one of them to open it up and take a look, there may just be some gunk stuck inside that wasn't inside the cartridge that is reducing the flow.

I think they will shout even if i ask them to open it up....

I think i will do it, any tips for what i should and shouldnt do? What should i be looking for??

Sorry these questions may seem dumb 2 you but i dont wanna mess up big time..

thanks guys :)

I don't know the filter but the link below is to the Tetra website where you can download the instruction manual. Might help.

Think about asking your mum and dad though, I'm sure they won't be angry. If it was my daughter I would be more cross if she didn't ask for my help!

Filters are very user friendly. Take it apart piece by piece, there arnt any screws, it all pulls apart and presses back together, I take my filter apart about once every month to keep water flowing smoothly. The parts just get abunch of crap on them and dnt quite work as effecitnly as they could and in extreeme casses they stop working all together.
Like I said just take it apart slowly kinda lay it out in a paper towl in a way you will remeber how you took it apart, use a sponge and just clean eac part carefully in the sink, use warm water. You will see a lot of gunk al over each part. Just take your time pay attention to what you are doing. And you'll be able t take it apart and put it back together with no problem. ;)

Good luck bro

Good, I'm sure you will get it all sorted out.

I agree. With the web link from Aliena that has the maintenance PDF and the advice from Sean, you should be good to go. If you are gentle and observant the first couple times, you should get very used to cleaning it and it should be a normal part of your monthly (or so) filter cleaning. I'm sure you already know this but the media should only be squeezed/swished in tank water, not tap water. The warm tap water is fine though for cleaning and rinsing the impeller and other filter parts.

well my dad told me he trusted me and that i should do it myself so i can do it in future if he isnt around. So i took it apart, it was so easy anyway it is flowing better than it was when it was brand new!!! the water is clear and i got a high 5 off my dad!!

here is the tank that i have been working on... (not the tank with the clogged filter this is a different one lol)

told you. it was easy.

and now that you know how to do it. you should do it pretty regularly... like i said before i usually take mine apart once a month even if it doesnt really need it. i like my tank runing smooothly and reliably.

good job :)

*HIGH FIVE*

good job
it's always fun taking something apart and managing to put it back together in working order :)

Well done, glad to hear you got it sorted. That is a lovely looking betta. I'd like one when I get my tank cycled but I know you have to be careful which fish you put in with them so I might wait till I can afford a second tank for him.
