Tried to explain to the better halfs' uncle about fishless cycling, fish in cycling, cloning blah blah blah...
The only thing he remembered was 'once the ammonia and nitrite levels are back down to 0 you should be fine to start adding fish' So he told me last night that he tested his water and his water stats were all perfect and at 0. I said that's great news and asked how long it had took him. He said oh, only a couple of days...
turns out he hasn't added any ammonia, no cycled media or anything but thought it was ok to add fish as the ammonia was 0. Even when i explained to him that the reason it is at 0 is because there is nothing in there to be adding ammonia to the tank he still couldn't grasp the whole cycling concept... I just shook my head and drank my tea. LMFAO!!!!!! What a bulb.

One of my "friends" is convinced you don't have to cycle freshwater. I explained over and over, but she just got mad and ranted about how she had been keeping fish for years. *sigh* She also keeps a large Oscar, a African knife, two large common plecos, assorted cichlids and one large clown loach is a 30 gallon. I'm not even sure that the tank has a filter.
