I have a full range of TFH magazines from February 1974 to October 1994, but for some reason, I miss May 1987..... can anybody tel me if that edition was skipped or did I just lose mine?? If someone has this edition available, I'll appreciate.... "we can talk" -

I stopped getting them at that time, cause they switched to reptiles (terarriums and to saltwater fish) and had very little on tropical fw..... they also stopped the last page supplement page which I collected. Are they still publishing??

I was reading a few issues of TFH at my doctor's just last week. Those were from 1997 to 1999 though, not 1987!

the early editions of the TFH magazine came with a supplement that went into a file you could buy. Any time a new fish was discovered it was put into these booklets and could be added to the file. They stopped doing that in the 80s.

I get a lot of 2nd hand fish books from

They are in the US but with the American dollar falling apart the books are becoming so cheap :)

You think the dollar is falling apart, you should check the Rand (or Zim dollar)... talking of which, I think that a collection like this (all editions for 20 years) would be worth a pretty penny to a collector. What do you think?

Not sure on the rand but the Zimbabwe currency keeps going up each week. From what I've heard on television it inflates automatically and is pushing everything right up. eg: A carton of eggs selling for 50million dollars.

But yeah a complete collection of mags from the last 20years is worth a bit to a collector especially if they are all in good shape. If you had a complete collection of the early editions, especially the first ones, then that would be worth a small fortune. They're great to read as well. It's quite interesting to see neon tetras and wild angels in black & white and reading about how they were kept and transported to the states after being collected in South America.

Actually saw an ad for a car last week selling at 359 Trillion (Zim) dollars......Wow!! imagine paying with a 500trillion note & the guy only has small change for you (are you going to count yer change)??

lol, that's crazy :)
I wouldn't mind 1 billion american or even australian but I would bother about 1 trillion from zimbabwe

I have the loose leaf binder edition of Exotic Tropical Fishes and would like to make sure it is complete. I thought that was a great idea. I had a lot of fun keeping it up to date. I have all the inserts from 1 to 210. Are there any more? Can anyone tell me which was the last issue of TFH with the supplement page?

Ludwig, they do still publish, with a new publisher, and it is more like the earlier issues, with lots of fresh water fish and articles about collecting fish. There is nothing about reptiles anymore. I think the publisher was doing that to help launch a reptile monthly which he did, but it not last very long. I have a subscription and I enjoy it.

I thank you for sharing that..... Maybe now I would consider subscribing again & continue my collection.....
