For 40 years of breeding fish (35 species) and not being concerned with water chemicals and the likes, You guys on TFF have convinced me that "water chemicals" must be considered in ichtiology...

So, (only because it was a bargain buy at R1 on our "Bidorbuy" - EBay equivalent) I got myself a pH test kit.

I was surprised to find all of my tanks at a constant of pH 7.1 and only one tank (drip-off water from the aircon with driftwood floating in the water at pH 6.9.... Is water make-up all that important???....

(BTW... from the same source, I've now also ordered a kit to test the rest of my water qualities)... I (actually) do not care what the results are... If I wanna breed something... I just put up a tank and breed 'em.

Im pretty similar. When it comes things like PH and others I tend to ignore it. I have always found unless you want to breed something pretty specific then most fish will adapt to quite a range of water conditions. With slightly harder to breed fish I find it then becomes more important to get things closer to the recommended conditions but thats just me, and I find it easier that way.

so it is possible to teach an old dog new tricks  ( luv you Ludwig :) )
no idea why you wish to burden yourself with the results after doing sooo well for so long, i suspect your inquisitive side got the better of you lol!

hope the other readings provide you with what you need to see :)
