Ho hope the Texas is still improving, Imo it's Herichthys cyanoguttatus.

Definately carpintis, but a very sickly and faded one.

Still no worse, but no better either. He is now in isolation, which will hopefully reduce his stress as he will not be being bullied continually.

With regards to the food, try offering live worms, lots of them at once so that the little fella has a chance to get them before the other fish snatch them up.

He's on his own now in a large plastic tub, so photos not really possible.
I left 4 bloodworm in there overnight, which were gone today, so I'm hoping he ate them. THere was also a bit of what looked like fairly normal poo. So, I'm continuing with the same strategy. I'll pop a couple of pellets in there tomorrow morning and see if they disappear during the day.

As for re-homing, I don't think there's anyone out there who would re-home him in his current condition. Certainly I would not even attempt to pass him onto a shop.

I intend to try and pull him through, feed him up, and get him nice again. Then I'll look at re-homing him.

I've pretty much given up on the idea of him going back into my big tank. My Midas, GT and juvie flowerhorn, are all now getting on really well in a little community. Now that they are established, I am fairly sure they would not tolerate a newcomer. SO if anyone is interested in potentially taking Carp in the long term, if I can get him healthy again please let me know. I think he could potentially be a large, stunning fish.

I am almost tempted by him see if he would be ok with mine, but as I really should be thinning out my fish not adding more!! plus in his current state I doubt he would make the journey even if there was a way of getting him to me.

Best see how he gets on first getting fit, my only worry would be if mine didnt accept him there would be big trouble and I dont really have a suitable tank to put him in, mine have grown up together and although bicker there is no real bother. I have got mine up for sale at the mo, doubt they will go though, caught hubby looking through fleabay for another tank

All going well actually.

Carp (the tex) is eating bloodworm well and (I think) is eating the odd pellet too. It's difficult to know exactly what he's eating as he eats when I'm not there.
There is "good" poop left in the tank each day too, so I'm very hopeful that he's on the mend.

GT is eating very well actually, but only on certain things. He is a VERY fussy eater. I have not found a dried food that he will eat yet. However, he is ravenous for prawns and bloodworm. He will also eat small pieces of pea, so a reasonably varied diet for the moment. He is also doing outstanding quality poops, so I'm very happy with him at the moment !
