Hi , quick question.
Manual for this filter advises to replace sponges and filter floss pad once a month.
Is this correct or is it just another way for a company to make money from a customer?
Any advice greatly appreciated , thanks in advance....

floss pad, yes. sponges, not till they drop to bits. but you can junk the "carbon" pad. most only use that, for removing meds.

I think I speak for most of us when I say we never seem to replace sponges until they literally crumble to pieces in our hands! Just give 'em a squeeze in old tank water when you do a water change and pop it back in, my filter floss does get changed quite often, probably every week or two!

Before i start buying anything, whats the cheapest way to do this?

I've found zooplus do the pre-cut FF700 for £2.79 for 2 pads (+delivery)
they also do a larger cut it yourself by JBL for £3.99

does anyone have anything better value? i don't mind cutting. Thanks
