I was cleaning my aquarium today and all my rummynose and cardinal tetras come to the siphon cleaner while it was sucking water, one cardinal got sucked in but i immediately took the cleaner out of the water so it went back in the water. Why are they so attracted to it, they keep trying to attack it, its very scary as they're so little and many almost got sucked in?

My corys hang out around the bottom of the tube when I'm emptying the tank for a water change too, it's not a gravel cleaner just a narrow plastic tube and I leave it in the tank to drain a couple of them will just loiter around it. I think it's because the filter is off and they like the water movement?

My guppies go crazy when I vaccuum the sand. They are so excited and I had many near misses especially the little ones. I think they are just curious and want to play.

In another tank, the dwarf gouramis always come up and have a good feel of my hand the the cleaner. But those two also eat out of my hand anyway, so they seem to like me doing maintenance in their tank.

Our german blue ram and one of the harlequin rasboras are forever having a go at the syphon tube. I can only put it down to the fact that they can see some waste food disappearing up the tube and want to eat it.
