Tetra Safestart: Truth Or Lies?

Pretty much like every other non refrigerated bacteria, doesnt really work. Tried it on a tank some time ago now, which was experiencing a spike and didnt really do very much, so I would say not worth the money it costs.

Of course if people wanted to use it along side a fishless cycle to see how effective it was, then that would be preferabl to trusting it completely and adding fish immediately as it suggests.

The review in PFK said that it still exposes fish to high nitrites. I'd go for mature filter media every time.

Says it all really. Have a look at the graphs. It might be '14 times lower than other products', but a spike of 2.3ppm or so ammonia and 2.5ppm nitrite is not to be sniffed at.
