Tetra Problems

I purchased today 4 Neon Tetras and 4 Glowlight Tetras, and gradualy got them used to their new surroundings, however 5-6 hours on and the are hardly moving, and are just stationary at the bottom of the tank, with the occasional small budge. I was hoping these would be lively fish and always on the move.

Does anyone know how i can get the best out of these wonderful looking fish?

I was thinking that, just didnt want to wake up tomorrow to 8 dead fish .

as long as the tanks filter has been cycled properly and they were acclimatised thoroughly then they should be fine. as said give them time to settle in.

what other fish are they in with at the minute? the reason i ask is that if they are with very active fish then it can take a while to settle.

i would also try and up the numbers of each species from 4 of each to as many as you can within reason as tetras all prefer to be in as big a group as possible for a safety/comfort factor. the more numbers of same species fish will help them settle in and relax better

Has the tank been cycled? I would assume it would have been a fish-less cycle as these are your only fish?

Do you know about the Nitrogen Cycle, Ammonia and Nitrite Poisoning?

Have you tested your water with a Liquid Test Kit?

Neons generally prefer a mature tank (6months + old)
