I've just purchased a fish box 60 after a disaster with my 1st 21 litre tank. I've been told to put polystyrene under the tank but was unsure if I still have to with it havin a plastic base. My floor is quite uneven so I don't know if it will be of any benefit and absorb any vibrations. It states in the warranty not to put anything between stand and tank. The polystyrene I have got is a inch thick too.

Thanks :)

Certainly all the ones that come with an integral plastic base that I'm aware of say not to add anything (e.g. polystyrene) under the base, so I'd be inclined to leave it out, especially as the manufacturer says so too. For some tanks it actually voids the warranty to use anything under the plastic base.

Yeh that's what i was thinking and i got told it would stop vibrations cos my tanks on laminate not carpet so u can see the water moving sometimes. I've had a total nightmare with the whole fish business. LOL practically all my fish have died (in my original tank) starting to think maybe I shouldn't have bothered as now I'm paranoid that my floor won't hold the weight lol

Ah, shame. I suppose they succumbed to new tank sysndrome, i.e. too much ammonia. Well you're at the right place to get the new one up and running smoothly if you need us. Just ask.

Look in the instruction mate if it has a floating base it shuold also have a no polystyrene symbol somewhere :good:

I've had a look it doesn't say anything about a floating base but it does say don't add anything between tank and stand. The plastic that sits on the stand has like a rim where the glass sits but it looks like the floor of the tank is the actual bit that's sat on the stand if that makes sense? Sorry I am new to all this and was mis sold my 1st tank buy the guys in shop I said I wanted a small tank which is easy to look after so got a 21 litre tank. It's only after I purchased it that I found out the smaller the tank the harder to keep and feel so bad for the betta I had as he looked miserable in shop and the whole time i had him so I went n bought another tank for him n he died that night :(
Also was a bit concerned about the thickness of the polysyrene with it being a inch thick. I'm thinking IF I did put it under then its a little too thick lol
