right now I have a lot of quwstions and sadly seem to be getting no where money is short, lol

Hoping to get £150 bonus on my EMA from school at the end of the month. If it comes through then the CO2 system will be ordered pronto. Hopefully will get a bit of lambing done this year too to make a bit extra so I shouldn't be stretched for long.

Anyway quick test kit question, I can't afford digial although I would like to. My question is what test kits are best at the minute all my test kits are nurafin except a tetra KH kit and it is useless. Nurafin are what my shop has always stocked and at the minute I have

Nitrite
Nitrate
Phosphate
PH wide range
PH high range

I was going to order the Nurafin Low range pH and KH From this site. TEST KITS

Just wondered if this was the best choice or if there were better kits out there. Also I am right in thinking that would be all the kits I need right?

Thanks all, your help is much appreciated.

Have found the Hagen Nutrafin test kits to be the most accurate and easiest to use of all the commonly available test kits I've used. Also their KH and GH tests both come in the same kit.

The low pH and KH/GH are the correct ones

I use the Nutafin kits and can confirm their pH and nitrate kits are fairly accurate. I do have my doubts about the nitrite kit though because my test always turns a very pale shade of pink when I am confident that it should go clear.

These kits will do the job, but I find them helpful for monitoring something that may be going wrong, as opposed to taking the readings as being wholly accurate.

Yep, use those as well.

You don't seem to have an Ammonia (NH3/NH4) test kit....

I can't afford digial although I would like to
Can you please point me to the ones you have seen?

Cheers,

Andy

Dave, My nitrite nearly always gives me clear readings so can't explain that :/

As for digital ones have only really sen the cheap ones for pH on ebay and they look pretty complicated.

Your right about my ammonia I have never used one as I was told if there was a problem there I would smell it.

I had loked at the red sea test kits but nutrafin are better.

Thanks .

Christ on a Bike!
Who told you that???!!!!!
If the levels ever got that high, your fish would be DEAD way before then.

First kit you get IMO, Ammonia!

I really have never had a problem and have had very few fish die. Maybe I am just lucky I guess. My local shop told me and although they are usually quite good I do doubt some of their advice. Will add it to the list from that site, the prices are really good and it is only about £2 postage.
