I took a water sample of all 4 of my tanks. I went to 2 pet stores, one is fish only(you'd think they have a clue). well bottom line They gave me 2 different readings. I have a ammonia test kit, but it is to had to read, the colors r close together, and reads different in every room of the house. Do they make a test kit that is clear if no ammonia is present, and chages to yellow if there r? Test strips r the same way, I get colors that is not even on the chart. I have wasted alot of money trying new things....I need a test that is colorless until something is present.

Thank u for ur reply... I don't know why I never get many replys, but let the question of is my guppy having fry come up for the millionth time and there r 3 pages of replys...Go figure

I use the same kit - aquarium pharamceticals - apart from the fiddly two bottle nitrate test, then playing how red is this red guessing game (they are all the same) mines been fine. The ammonia is a two bottle in my kit which turns a lovely lime green if there is any in there - very tricky to miss!

The Aquarium pharms - standalone single botttle ammonia test is clear if nothing and yellow if there is some, but it only reads at 0.5ppm and above.
