I have never ever used nutrient enrichment in my tanks other than fish poo!
Just wondering if slow release plant fertilisers intended for house plants ect can be used in subsrates? At a guess i would say no, but have no idea so asking.

Also when dosing co2, i understand people inject pure co2... but will a airstone not help a little with co2, or oxygen for pants to use during the day/night?

Thanks

You can use the membrane type slow release ferts in small amounts and well buried - Osmocote etc
Airstones won't help your plants in a noticeable way, more likely hinder.

IMO

+1 there, the amount of CO2 you get in the water would be gassed off twice as fast by the surface movement created by the bubbles.

Am i right though thinking that lower the PH the more CO2 water olds. Or does CO2 just acidify the water?

Basically i have alot of plants in my tank, but not too heavily lit, no co2 injection, quite high filtration (x8 tank volume a hour) but no nutirents... 3 month down the line i have a bit thick black algae starting to show, and some eldoea i have suspended has kind of went yellowish/dying. But not sure if the couple of plattys just been picking it to death, as they love the stuff. Or it has died through lack of nutrients or something.
