The natural instinct for everyone is open all doors and windows, but if you do, you actually allow more heat in which causes a rise in tank temperature.
If you keep the doors and windows shut with a fan in the room containing a tank, the heat will have less of an effect.

Discovered this earlier where my upstairs tank in a "sealed" room was 25C and the downstairs tank (in the front room/lounge) was 28C, yet both are set to 25.

I use my tank for drying the washing due to the heat the tank gives off, it also keeps the tank cool and dark on these hot days. 1 Double duvet sheet dried in less then 10hours on my tank today

hmm not so true i had all doors closed and curtains i got back home today to find me tank at 28C its set at 26C

Yes, when the breeze is lower temp than the room, but today there was no breeze or at least not lower than room temp.

Also depends on the house and the insulation.

Example, one place I used to live had very poor insulation, The building was listed so couldn't even install double glazing, it was above a pub, right above the kitchen, with the pub kitchens main water boiler actually in our kitchen. Trying to keep that place cool in summer was a waste of time. Even running an aircon unit 24 hours a day wouldn't keep a room cool. Other places I've lived have been much better, and could be kept at nice temps all year round.

That flat was about 20 degrees C in the winter. Running no extra heating. But in summer it went up to normally about 35 degrees. Opening the door and windows would bring it down to the cooler temp outside (but also let in the noise from the idiots getting drunk downstairs)

if your place is well insulated with no major heatsource inside, you'll be better off with everything shut.

Glad to know it's not just my tanks - I thought all my heater thermostats were faulty! Didn't think about the hot weather. Never mind, latest weather forecast says that it will get colder soon with heavy rain in SE and possible ground frost in Scotland by Wed, British summer only lasts a week if we're lucky!

Reminder to all .... remember that warmer water holds less oxygen, so an extra airline into any tanks might be worthwile during this hotter weather.

Read tp also get clean drinks bottles and freeze tank water in them to float and cool things down?

Why does it need to be tank water?

You put the lid on and you could use whatever you want.

Well I was reading if you used normal tap and the bottle cracked it could be potentially dangerous, but then again it depends how safe you want or need to play it

Just don't fill the bottle 100% and it'll be fine. Water, unlike most other things, once it reaches a certain temp, will expand as it gets colder. Which is why bottles may crack. As long as there is space in the bottle for it to expand into, it's not a problem.

r an easier method turn the stat down on the heater a few C then you will still have what your looking for thats what ive done today
