Noticed today my Gold Gourami had a few white patches on hiim but was eating and acting as normal.
A couple of hours later he was totally lifeless...Dead.
Fished him out and realised the water was cold....Heater had been unplugged.
Temperature down to 18C so have just plugged heater back in to bring it back up to normal slowly.
Looking now at other fish and a swordtail seems to have a fluffy white attachment on one fin and a scissortail with a white patch on its head.
As i have not lost a fish in years i take it this has been caused by the temp drop.
Will it right itself in time or is this a disease that has been triggered by the drop.
If a disease how do i treat it ?
What else do i need to do ?
Lights off now and heater back on.
Thanks.

i highly doubt this was caused by a drop in temperature alone, your tank/water must have other issues going on

White fluffy stuff is fungus or a bacteria infection. I suggest you research them both and find out which one.

Sorry to hear that. Probably the colder water might have caused the fish to be more susceptible to the disease/fungus. Just as going outside in the winter without a coat doesn't make you sick on its own, but it does lower your immunity to what is already around you.

Hopefully you can get this squared away quickly...

Yes thought this myself.....Actually think heater been off about 5 days.
Scissortail was dead this morning but fluffy stuff on Swordtail nearly gone.
All other fish still looking and acting fine.
Monitoring the situation with crossed fingers.
