Then a normal dvd.
As I don't get it.

Ok thanks.
Bought one by mistake and didn't notice any difference.

I also thought you needed a Blue Ray Player as well to get the best out of them, Much the same as a DVD Player to look at. Thats maybe another reason you didn't notice any difference.

Cheers Gordon

you will only see the difference if you connect to a HDMI socket on your tv, that's if it has one. if you have no plug, the image will same the same as a DVD.

we got blu ray,and i honestly cant see the diffrence... someone told me that its maybe because i have old eyes!! charmin eh??

there is quite a big difference between DVD and Blu-Ray quality on my 42" 1080p LG tv, everything looks much crisper and clearer.

the big difference between blu ray and dvd is the sound quality however you need an av amplifier that decodes HD audio to really hear the difference.

Thanks everyone.

Regular DVD's can hold 4.7 GB of data, a double layer can hold 8.5 GB of data, a normal Blue-ray disk can hold 25 GB of data and a dual layer can hold 50 GB.

So, are you saying that it will work as well as a normal DVD if it's played in a regular DVD player with an older TV? Will they work if played on a computer too?

im afraid not, you need a blu ray player to play blu ray discs, the technology required to read the disc is different
