Tell Me Why It's Worth Paying More For A Blu-ray Dvd

LOL I've still got an 'old fashioned' CRT myself I have always thought standard def pictures looked horrible on LCD's and plasma's. Much better these days I guess but still refuse to pay stupid prices for a nice picture.
As for the players I am waiting for the next tech to come along there is no way blue ray will be around nearly as long as DVD or VHS.

CRT actually produces the best picture quality, it struggles with straight lines on larger screens but the actual image displayed is better than plasma and much better than LCD. Unfortunately there just isn't a great deal of HD CRT screens available.

You would be amazed just how many top end image manipulators utilise CRT monitors instead of LCD.

Funnily enough I have been debating whether to pickup one of the last produced HD Samsungs s/h off ebay for a while now as I think they are gorgeous but every time I ask ebayers if they have a 'good' set (geometry wise) I rarely get a reply! When the set is good it normally goes for about £150 plus which is too much for a next-gen crt out of warranty imo.
It is a shame Samsung stuffed up with their slimfit crt's because I think they could have endured in the market for longer. In fact I think Samsung thought they would last a lot longer as a model scheduled never actually appeared in the end. They looked like a flat panel and outperformed most panels in many respects but I guess you can't stick them on a wall above the fireplace
