What are tattooed mollies? I saw that a fish store had them and was wondering if they are naturally like that. I'm assuming that it isn't natural, so is it bad or painful for them?

Also, how would their fry look? Would they be tattooed? I'm assuming that they wouldn't be.

Would you recommend getting them?

Thanks!!

Ok I saw a picture of a molly getting tattooed and it is obviously NOT right! That's horrible!!!!

Tattooed fish are exactly what the name says. They are injected with inks to make patterns on them. I avoid them and any place that would carry them. You could say that I vote with my feet.

As the name suggests, their tattooed. This is very stressful and leaves the fish susceptible to infection's resulting in many losses in the process of being tattooed.

It's not genetic so the fry will not carry any of the added colours.

Please dont buy these.

I've also read that only 20% of the fish who go through this live!

I saw some recently at a LFS I do not frequent often. I complained, a lot. :)

You're kidding me? I've not heard of this before, but it infuriates me and I will never buy any. :X Sorry, this is my first post here but I've been reading for days and this just makes me so mad!

Hi Tracy

You and 99% of people that see these fish do not realise this, all we can do is educate people and allow them to make their own mind up.
Hopefully like your self their think the same and avoid.
