Nitrate seems a bit high but shouldn't be a problem.

You should do another test after letting your water stand for 24 hours too so the chlorine evaporates and the water stabilises.

I'm assuming you've already got a source of ammonia at the ready? If not, you may want to order some now while you're still waiting for your filter.

your wate is suitable for just about any tropical except for African great lake cichlids, which need much harder water, and some of the more 'delicate' South American fish like Blue Rams.

What size tank have you got, and what fish have you already identified as liking? Otherwise we could literally throw hundreds of options at you.

to be honest the only fish i do not like is the neon tetra and guppies
plenty of different types of gourmi in my lfs and barbs also i like
i would prefer as many diffent types of fish as possible and non planted
i have got the tetratec ex1200 filter on the way also
hope this helps

got plenty of time to look up on suggestions as filter not due till weekend and then cycle begins

THIS IS A COMPLETE EDIT COZ IM AN IDIOT.

Rummynosed Tetras, Corydoras, Small catfish, Gouramis, Angels, the list goes on & on. Get yourself to a fish shop & write down all the fish that you like. We can then advise about stocking.

Definitely go to the shop & view them in the flesh. Gives you a much better idea than an internet search for photo's.

Take a notebook with you & jot down the names, this has the added benifit that the sales people generaly leave someone alone who looks like they know what they are doing.

I now have trouble getting served at one of my LFS as they give me a wide birth because of asking akward questions & taking notes.

If they won't serve you because you ask questions, it suggests they have poor practices and/or little knowledge of fishkeeping. Avoid.

Its not that they wont serve me, its that because I look like I know what I am doing, they will prefer to talk to somebody who is asking advice. This means once I know what I want I have to wait, rather than being pounced apon as soon as I walk in the door.

Not a big deal, but preferable.
