hiya, I just tested my tap water for ammonia with Tetra Test (liquid) and it is showing a reading @ 0.25mg/l
This aint good, what product should i get to remove the ammonia?

Cheers, i'll have a look down my lfs see what they have.
weird , i never new that we could have ammonia in tap water, no wonder i'm having troubles getting the level down in my tank :(

Who supplies your Water ? Thames Water ?

Tap water shouldn't have ammonia in it  I'd email the water company, water with ammonia in it isn't exactly good to drink -_-

Just went to test mine and it's spot on zero.
Funny enough I also have the Tetra liquid test.
How old is your test kit ?

that's odd. Any chance you can pop to your lfs this weekend to have them test it ?
I have the tests strips as well and that also gives me a zero reading.
If it's a false reading, you don't want to put chemicals in your tank unnecessarily .....
I've never had ammonia in my tapwater.

Yea, i'll go tommorow if i can get out of work early enough, i'll get some strips too, be good to get a comparison, i'll let you know the result.

Aye, and if the lfs result is the same as mine, i'll think i'll swap to drinkin' mineral water!

You did give the test tube a good clean before you took the test.

Strips are not worth it - they have a short and unreliable shelf life.
But if you do have ammonia, I'd check with Thames Water why.
You can ask for a general tap water analysis report too :)

You could sterlise it in boiling water then let dry and retest.
