Good grief! How long does this last? I've had a wood cave soaking in hot water for over a week and the water is still turning colors! Also, any idea how long it takes for wood to sink? Thanks

varies from piece to piece . the taninns are harmless tho nothing to worry about . as for how long it takes again that varies . i had a piece of redmoor that i had to soak for nearly 2 months before it sank!

I've been soaking a large junk for two months and it still leaches a light brown.... but you know I kind of like it. My tank really looks like a slice of a river bed in the Amazon now.

I'm currently boiling a smallish piece and have been doing so for 2 days now. It sank the moment we put it in, but it's still releasing a lot of tannin! It's crazy how much one small piece can leech!

When I first put the wood in, it didn't leech at all. I forgot that it even would until about 3 days later when my whole tank was brown! The bucket it's in now is still really reddish brown which IS kinda pretty...I just hope it sinks soon! I'm sure my fish would like a real cave and not the pot I have in there

i bought 2 largish bits the other day from one of my LFS, one in each bucket, soaked them for 3 days adding boiling water 3/4 times a day, added last night to tank and all seems to be fine,
my pleco's seem well pleased!

unless it a major major colour change,, just go for it, and do regular water changes! it will soon fade in tank

I was lucky, my bogwood didn't really tan the water much so I only had to soak it for a hour or so.

About 4 months and mine is still an awful yellow colour! I keep telling myself it'll go back to normal soon

Did anyone's wood get slimey while they were soaking it? Every time I change the hot water I have to wipe all the slime off
