I moved my 3 corys from my 23 gal into my 6 gal, which houses a betta. I had an Indian almond leaf in the tank, and the water was nice tea-coloured. The corys seem much happier in this tank. Do tannins help only bettas? or do they help other fish too ?

Other reasons why they may be happy is because there is less competition for food, and the temperature is lower.

What are your opinions ?

Many South American fish come from low ph/high tannin areas, this is also known as "black water". Without knowing the previous tanks/current tanks tempetures or stock's I cant comment on thats, also is there any substrate difference between last and current tanks?

The tank stats are in my sig, and yes, the substrate is the same.

The temperature of the 23 gallon tank is around 27 degrees celcius, and the 6 gallon is at 24 degrees.

I'd say its probably the indian almond leaf then, I think they produce more than your everyday tannins (we will call them "Super Tannins" LOL) that your get from bogwood etc, plus the downed ph you get as well
