Can anyone tell me if i could use a glass tank (24x8in) for tropical fish? My son bought it but it only has a plastic lid so what would i do about a light? Thanks

Yes you could use it but it is not ideal. You can get clip on aquatic lights (make sure that it is aquarium safe) The heater will have to be on a serious slope too.
You could get a divider and use it as a twin betta tank (I think)
