Tanks Finished Cycle!

Yeah, I agree, Danios can be a little fin-nippy and probably not suitable for guppies thats for sure. Mollies might tolerate them, but your tank is a little small to be keeping most breeds of molly (randy little buggers). To go along with Modernhamlets suggestion of a loner or fish that could keep things in line perhaps a single male Dwarf Gourami would be suitable? I dont know one way or the other so hopefully someone with experience knows if they're compatible with danios.

As far as the Ottos go, many years ago I kept them with Zebra Danios with no problems whatsoever. Ottos tend to stay out of the way of other fish and dont attract much atttention from anything else. Because they're docile and out of the way fish unless you get something really aggressive and territorial they'll be fine. My Dwarf Gourami is an un-coordinated ditz and backs into my Ottos all the time, but they dont mind ;)

Anyway, I digress. If you do want a colorful livebearer to live with your Danios, perhaps some Platies would work too... Again, I'm not 100% sure about compatibility just tryin to throw ideas out there. Hope I at least gave you some helpful info :)

You caught me out Adam :lol:
I am sorry i didn't answer your question although if i did answer it now id just be repeating what you've heard already :)
Im not sure if anyone has mentioned anything about angelfish though so ill give you some quick info you'll probably already know but just incase.
Like everyone has said you wont be able to keep the danios in there, If i have the right tank in mind the measurements are 61x31x45 (lxwxh) Which gives the tank the minimum height needed for angelfish but im not sure whether the length is good enough for them so i'll leave that for someone else. The tank is just over 20 gallons? If so you'd only be able to to keep a pair of angels if the length is long enough.
I think a Small shoal of tetras for the middle, a shoal of cories for the bottom and then a beautiful male dwarf gorumai for the top and the centre piece fish.
Although its entirely your choice. :D

The tank is actually 81x31x35....its a less tall version of the Rekord 96. :)

For you, and the others that questioned my cycle be complete, I have just got home with the test kits, and got the following results:

Ammonia = 0
NitrIte = 0
Nitrate = purchased a duff test kit where bottle 4 has dried up!!! :lol:

Firstly
I'm confused :S
you have a Juwel Rekord 80?
AFAIK they are not available for sale in the UK market, only the German market. The two Rekords available for sale in the UK are 70 and 96
Juwel did do a Delta 80 & a Lido 80. :dunno:

That aside...
Suitable tank mates for ZDs' are any fast swimming fish, preferbly mid to bottom swimmers, as ZD's prefer the top to themselfs.

I have kept ZD's with tiger barbs, Firehead tetra (aka rummynose), red eye tetras, and some Rasboras (variouse species).

From you original list the rummynoses are the onlt suitable fsih to keep with ZDs'.
I would avoid mollies, platies and guppies as they are too slow and may get stressed out by the Danios.

you need to look at fast tetras like silvertips, blackline penguine fish, red/black phantom tetras etc.
Harliquin rasboras would also be a good choice.

having said all that I'm not 100% convinced that the danios will be entierly happy in an 80ltr tank, let alone ading more fish to them. Any chance of a picture and could you post the dimensions of the tank too.

Hey Wolf, thanks for your reply.

It is indeed the Rekord 80. My LFS only got them in 2 weeks ago, told me he had been trying for quite a while as the demand was out stripping supply, but they seem to be slowly trickling their way into the UK market. Dont forget, there is also the Rekord 60 and 120 as well ;) Although, I have mentioned its a Rekord 80 in many posts, but you are first person to question it!!

The dimensions are in my previous post. Will attach picture below.

eidt: couldn't attach picture, so here's a post with them on - http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=113096

It is possible I could give the danios to a mate of mine who is just starting up a tank himself, but I'm not sure yet

Having seen the tank and working out the gallonage.
I'm now confident that you will be ok with the danios
and they will be ok in the tank :thumbs:

Glad to know that Juwel are opening up all their range to the UK
