for my new 2nd tank. It's a 55 gallon and i really do look the likes of the Cynotilapia afra "Mbweca".So i have ordered 4 of these. Now any suggestions for a tank mate species. I am only looking for one more species in the same amount of numbers plus a cat on the bottom.

Sand and ocean rock nd PH set quite hard at 8.2PH

thanks

One thing to keep in mind is Afra are one of the rare carnivores...I say rare b/c there mann't mbuna carnivores at all. It would be a good idea to get another species that is at least omnivore and not herbivore. Herbs can get bloat if you feed them the protein stuff that the carns need. But omnivores can take both, so it's easier to give the whole tank a healthy diet.

For cats I would get:
syno petricola
syno multipunctis
syno lucipinis ....or something along that line of spelling.

All these synos stay 6" or smaller with Luc(sp) staying the smallest.

As for mbuna,
Metriaclima estherae (Red)-aka red zebra
Labidochromis caeruleus-aka yellow lab
Metriaclima greshakei -aka ice blue

Depends on what you're looking for, but there's a few that are omnivores.
