Hey,

I'm still new to all this and I have the chance to get a new tank. There are two that I have the choice of but I am not sure which is the overall better choice? It is either the Juwel Vision 180 in dark wood (not that the colour makes much difference, except to my decor :p ) or the Aqua One AR850 (also in dark wood). I'm no where near being an expert and I know they are both quite different and I am unsure if one has any advantages over the other (apart from the Juwel one can hold 25 litres more) or if in fact they're both rubbish :p

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Thanks.

P.S. - Found them both on this site:

Hi, as you can see by my signiture I have an AquaOne 850 and 380 so I am a bit bias

Seriously, I think they are great tanks/cabinets. Practical and good looking (bit like myself actually :hey: )

You can tweak the canopy filtration system to suit yourself without disturbing the tank/fish. :good:

All I would advise is that you do away with the carbon trays and just buy some extra noodles or foam media from the pond dept (Aquaone would like you to buy their pre-cut and terribly expensive media every 3 months! Nobody should renew their media that often......my media is 4 years old! :hyper: ) Also the water does tend to gurgle where it returns into the tank. I got over this by loosly pushing a square of coarse foam in the tube to stop the venturi action, now it is silent  You still get good surface agitation which is important.

If you go for the A1 850 I'll be glad to answer any question or queries you may have :fun:

Juwel tanks are well made if not a little boring.....apparantly the filters aren't up to much -_-

i bought the jewel 180 after thinking for a while. Im not too keen on the filter, and the only real instructions come on a CD, id prefer a booklet version.
But as aquariums go, it seems alright so far

Regarding Juwel manuals, when I got my tank I had to order it, so I looked at Juwel's website and printed the manual to read while I was waiting. Now I have the best of both worlds - CD and paper!
