Tank Water Used To Rinse Filter Sponges...

Came home from work today and opened up my Eheim 2078 filter, mainly to get rid of all the nasty coloured water in the bottom of it. I then removed the woolen pads from each basket (left the Substrat Pro media alone) and gave them a gentle rinse in some tank extracted water, after which the water was filthy! Was worth it though, the spraybar had noticeable extra vigour.

But my dilemma is regarding the filthy water... It is worth using to help seed my two new APS 2000EF filters (in which case I will set at least one of them up today), or is it simply nasty decomposed matter that should be disposed of?

you can certainly use it to seed a new filter. I've done exactly the same for my brother-in-laws tank and it worked a treat.

my 1yr old fell asleep as we left Southampton. Felt bad cutting his afternoon sleep short so gave it a miss......sadly he was still asleep as we drove past Basingstoke and the MA there. Had to rush to the MA in Staines after we got home so I at least had some LFS action over the weekend!
