Tank Update

How about a synodontis of somesort? The featherfin (eupterus) would probably be best. I know not everybody likes them though.

Another pleco - tiger, gold nugget, snowball, BN? Although not sure I would keep them with a gt or jd...

I'm afraid my knowledge of robust bottom dwellers is limited!
hey i checked out the featherin catfish really like the look of it and also does everyone think my stocking will be ok in a 55uk G tank? 63 us G tank

you may keep more driftwoods and rocks in yur aquarium.you may also keep clown loach as bottom dweller.

hey ye im getting rid of the two pieces of fake wood and getting 3 nice pieces of drift wood to break the line of sight in the tank.

so do you think this stocking will be ok?

1 convict
1 jewel
1 clown pleco
1 tiger loach
1 jack dempsey/green terror
1 featherfin catfish
1 senegal birch
clown loaches ( how many )

I wouldnt go for Clown Loaches....the tank is not suitable long term

How about get a GT and a JD and drop the Birchir,Loaches and Syno?....only cos im not a fan of bottom dwellers :p

JD's and GT's work pretty well together.

ye i think the clown loaches are a bad idea specially being id have to get a group of them. oo i have to say i do like the idea of that but my current stock is

1 convict (4 really)
1 jewel
1 tiger loach (not really keen on him though)
1 clown pleco

but i do really like the idea of an oddball fish. and also having the bottom dwellers to clean the tank aswell

Its down to you mate :)

If it was my tank i would have this...

Gold Saum Green Terror - Female (less agressive...won't hybridise readily)
Jack Dempsey - Male (more pearls/colour)
Bristlenose plecs/Clow Plecs (small plecs)
Dithers

that does sound good :) but i really want to keep these ones

1 convict
1 jewel
1 clown pleco
1 senegal birch
1 GT or JD

what could i have and what could i add extra?

Hmmm nothing Cichlid.....maybe some Black Widow Tetras or Tiger Barbs?....would have to be large of course or the Birchir will predate on them.

You could keep all your Cons for now...they don't do any damage when they reed when small...its when they are adult.....my have bred and currently swimming aroudn with fry in a tank that contains a Vieja,Green Terror,Jack Dempsey,Clown Loach,Bristlenose and Texas Cichlid....all babys are fine (far to many)...the parebts chase stuff but attack nothing.

i think ill get thouse fish first and take it slow and see if it looks crowded or not

so it will be

1 convict (4 till they get big)
1 jewel
1 Green terror or JD
1 tiger loach
1 clown pleco
1 sengal birch
1 catfish that grows small or another pleco ?

If you can...get the JD or GT slightly bigger than the Cons or Jewel also because of the natural size differences a small JD or GT could get a beating

ye will do also if i cant find a sengal i think ill get both the gt n jd how that sound?

Will be good in the short term but i could see you having to rehome the Jewel later on.

The problem is..Jewels are African so have completely different body language to SA/CA Cichlids because they are much more distant relatives...if at all relatives..possibly just a fish from a common Perch like ancestor....Jewels can be relentlessley aggressive when mixed with New Worlds...unless mixed lightly.... not that this will be a issue for a GT or JD....it will be a issue for a Jewel long term...it will pick fights and likely to get ripped apart.

But yeh...play it by ear.
