Love this tank, nice one mate. When you bought the tank, it didn't come with t5s.....did it? Have you added a juwel "high-light" instead or a separate t5 electronic ballast?

I love the tank! It is exactly what I had in mind as I am planning a 40gl african community. Do you use CO2, etc for your plants? I want to go with the planted look like yours, but I really don't want to go back to the high tech planted tank I had a year ago... it was just too high maintinence.

EDIT: Nice, swirly congos

No Co2, just the occasional addition of liquid ferts (which to be honest is more or less never now) The tank has 2 T5 bulbs which seem to be more than enough to keep everything ticking over nicely.

Very cool. I was going to get T5s anyway (I use them on my 125 and my old 30 planted), so I was wondering if I needed to try with CO2 and ferts again.

Yer thanks am good, as for the Lotus im not totally sure, ive had one where the pads on thier stems was over 40" in length.....and my current plants are rather large and still growing so...your guess is as good as mine.

Mine is always very murky however the wood I got are from my LFS that obv have been soaked for some time. Also it seems there are a load of particles floating around. I do have an external filter too.

With regards to your lighting what do you mean by T5??

Try a fine foam pad or polishing pad that is finer than sponges and it will make your water crystal clear, T5 are 1/8th of an inch so therefor give out more light per square inch, these rae the most efficient tubes, then T8, T12....
