I am wanting to re-do my South American tank so I just want some advice for stocking. The tank is a little under 50 gallons I believe, and is 4 ft. long. This is an idea I had for stocking, tell me what you think.

2X Keyhole Cichlids

2X Firemouths

2-4X Gold Rams

1X Blue Acara

6X Congo Tetra

So far I have the Keyholes, Firemouths, and 2 Rams which have been going good for a few months, so I really just was wondering if I could fit a Blue Acara in there. Also, I need something to clean the bottom so I was thinking either a BN Plec if I can find one around here, or a school of Cories. I would rather have the BN because I feel like the Cories would be afraid of the Cichlids, but I don't want one if it will eat all of the eggs they lay.

Thanks for any help.

What are the other dimensions of the tank?

Watch for any bullying by the larger cichlids against the rams.

The cories wouldn't eat the cichlid eggs, the parents would keep them away but I'd still go for the BN.

I'd probably add a couple more to the Congo tetra shoal.

As for the tank being a South American tank, you have African tetra and Central American firemouths.

The tank is 48" Long, 14" wide and 17" deep.

i wasnt really going for a specific south american biotype or anything, just American Cichlids so the tetras are fine with me. Would I be able to put an Acara or 2 in there or would it be pushing it?
