:D Well i Have now got a fully cycled 6 foot x 2foot x 2foot tropical freshwater fishtank. What im after is some suggestions for what to put in it? currently i have 2 bristlenose catfish, 2 albino catfish of some type. 1 red fin shark, 1 red tail shark ( the petstore told me these 2 would get alone fine but im finding out different :( ) 1 male guppy, and 3 female guppies, 2 neon tetras and 2 white clouds. ohhhhhhhh and dont forget my fave fish, my blue veiltail betta :*) ( i know veil tails are common, but it is all i can find it my area :-( I know clouds and tetras should be in shoals but im still working on what else im going to put in).

I have 1 end of the tank sectioned off with fly wire and am planning on using this for the breeding of any fry, so that the other fish cant get them. The tank is fully planted and cycled, nitrites and ph are fine.

I also want to get a female betta  but am having probs finding one :S Any suggestions from any aussies would be greatly appreciated about where i can get some.

Thanx for anyone that replies

Well...I REALLY like the sound of the tank! Nice and BIG! :D :) :D :D :) :D :)

I have heard that you're not supposed to keep male and female male bettas together permanantly, otherwise the female gets harrassed by the male. You could keep almost anything you like in there, how about gettting a golden nugget pleco, I want one but can't have one. They are LOVELY! :D :D :D

What else, ummm...get something like...errr...:fish: ! Yeah, get :fish: !!!!! :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish:

Sorry!!!!!! :D :D :p :D :p :D :p :D

:fun: Wheeeeeeee!

Thats a 180 gal tank u got u could have like 3 or 4 balas alot of corries some neons, Maybe a RedTail Shark Blood Fin tetras are always nice :D

Im in warrnambool in victoria, about 3 hrs south west of melbourne. There are only 2 pet shops here and they have a pretty poor range of fish, am lookiing to find a bigger bettter range, especially of bettas.

We have a shop here in Canberra that regularly sells female bettas. Surely there would be pet shops in Melb that sell them. Good to see fellow aussies on here.

Umm, you make it sound like you're planning on getting more bettas :/ I'm not all too sure about how much you know about bettas, and I cant say I know much. But I've been reading on the betta forum they got here ... and they dont make good community fish really. Not that they'll harrass the other fish, but the other fish might nip its tail, and he'll probably not feel too happy. I think he'd be better of in a (small) tank of his own.

Also, you can not keep bettas together in 1 tank. 2 Male bettas Will kill eachother, bettas in a big tank, ok ... but put good diveders inbetween them so they can Not get to eachother.

Also, you can indeed not keep the male and female bettas together, during breeding it tends to be ok, but take her out as soon as possible, seeing as they will more than likely get in a fight together as well.

Female bettas, I'm not sure about ... I think you can keep more of them together, but not a 100% sure

You can Either have 1 male or several females, never a mix. And I suggest getting some angelfish, they are stunningly beautiful and very hardy, contrary to popular belief. Oh yeah and get rid of either the red-finned or the red-tailed black shark. They will kill each other as time progresses.
