Hi, I was wondering if any one would be kind enought to let me know if these reading seem correct for a salt water aquarium, i am new to the game.

Salt specific gravity 1.025
Temp 26.5 - 27.8
Calcium 600ppm
PH 8.3
Nitrate 0mg/l
Nitrite 0mg/l
Ammonia 0.08mg/l
Iron non-chelated 0mg/l
Iron chelated 0mg/l
Phosphate 3.5mg/l
KH 130mg/l

Also the water is slightly cloudy, I have read up on this and I think it is bacteria bloom, is there any aditive that can sort it out?

thank you

I am not too familiar with salt water tanks, but a bacteria bloom should clear in a couple days on its own, at least that is the case with fresh water tanks.

the cloudiness will be from the sand and will clear with mech filtration
Oops, I did not take the sand into consideration.

I had the same problem with my FW tank with sand making the water cloudy, and like truck said, it will clear via mechanical filtration over the course of a couple days.

Anyways, do saltwater tanks have bacteria blooms like fresh water tanks?

sometimes. but it doesnt happen often.

Thank you for the advice, how do i get the phosphate lower?
rowaphos. in your filter, or in a place with good flow

is the phosphate level something to do with the plants been able to photosynthesize?
thank you :good:
this is a saltwater tank? so the only plants you will have im guessing is cheato or something like? its a macro algae and should remove phosphate if it is lit, but run some rowaphos too. to get it down to 0.015 or lower

Ye its salt water. i have 3 toadstool mushrooms on a 5kr live rock, that also has soom mushroom polyps on it. and a green xenia. will the high phosphate levels affect them? il buy some rowaphos tommorow and try it.

no lower phosphate will be fine with them.

a protein skimmer will help also

sorry for all the questions, i have a red sea turbo skimmer, i was wondering how long it needs to be running per day or is it 24hr?

orite that maby why, because i have only been running it for about 4 hours a day. that may also get rid of some of the cloudiness to. il keep it on then. thank you.
