Hi, I’m thinking of getting a honey gourami for a 20 gallon hex, tall. Besides livebearers, are there any other tank mates suitable for a 20 gallon that can live peacefully with a honey Gourami?

As mentioned in your other thread, we need the dimensions of the tank and the hardness of your tap water before we can make any suggestions.

Since the tank is a tall hex tank it will have limited side to side swimming room, so that will restrict your fish choice to small slow swimming fish. But just how wide is the tank?

Fish need to be kept in water with a hardness similar to that which the species evolved. Soft water fish will suffer in hard water; and hard water fish will suffer in soft water.
The hardness of your tap water should be somewhere on your water provider's website - we need the number and the unit (because they could use any one of half a dozen different units). If it's not there, take a sample of tap water to a fish shop and ask them to test GH (general hardness). Again, get the number and unit. Don't accept words like slightly soft, moderately hard etc as words mean different things to different people.
