I have a 20 gallon tank with 1 blue gourami amd 6 tiger barbs. Can I add another blue gourami with these? Also waht other fish can I add with these I would like a pictus catfish. The tank has cycled so any advice would be a great help.

Hi bigtim,

By blue gourami do you mean a powder blue dwarf gourami? There's a pic here. If so then it's a good idea to get another one of the opposite sex so you have a pair, one male one female. If you want babies from these make sure your tank has loads of live plants that trail on the surface and you may get lucky!

Sorry I can't help you with barbs/catfish.

Good luck!

I wouldnt suggest placing pictus cats in with barbs, the barbs see the long whiskers of the pictus as tasty snacks and nip them off, if this happens continuously it eventually kills the catfish :-(
You are pretty much stocked to the limit for a 20, id say get another gourami (if it is a dwarf, if it isnt then the tank will be too small for two gouramis) and leave it at that.

not only will the tiger bars tar up the pictus cat, the pictus cats like to be in pairs and they get way to large for a 20 gallon tank.

So go with another gourami like the others said and good luck

Is it a paradise fish or a gourami ?? It cant be both, if its a paradise fish i wouldnt add anything to that tank, paradise fish are evil to one and another

here is a better link to what you are talking about.....using the scientific name provided by your link!!!

Blue Paradise Fish

As CFC said it's a paradise fish.
