Tank Mates For My Cichlid

I have a blood parrot and I'm currently looking for tank mates. I've gone to a few sites, but several of them say drastically different things. (i.e. Severums are mild-mannered and peaceful; Severums are extremely aggressive and not to be with docile fish) He's been with other fish temporarily (currently a very young livingstonii) and doesn't seem to show much, or any, aggression but still, I'd rather have more suitable tank mates for him.
So, I'd like to know your opinions on possible tank mates, taking into consideration that he's:
fairly slow moving, docile, doppy/awkward. He's only got one eye, so I tend to consider him kind of special needs.

If the tank size we're talking about is over 55g, you could add another cichlid.

A severum might work.. festivum should work.. rainbow cichlid should work.
