had herd rumours that golden guarmais can be agressive towards smaller fish is this true??

My Gold gourami became agressive towards some of my fish so I had to get rid of him. I had a couple Mollies and a dwarf blue gourami. He nearly killed the dwarf blue and started picking on the mollies so I traded him for some more mollies.
so ill be designing my stock list around him so any suggestions on comunity type tank mates would be grand ty
