Based on my current water conditions I'm looked ideally for a pair (or shoal) of mid dewelers which can live with:-

Danio's (Zebra/Leopard), Platys, Corys (Peppered and Bronze), Siamese Flyfox, Chinese Algae eater (not sure how long he'll be staying - he came with my new tank), Whiteseam Bristlenose cat fish and a scissortail (I know he should be in a shoal but he came with the CAE and the tank).

The tank is a planted - lightly - 270l Juwel delta 300 so its a step up from my 60l tank - filter is a Fluval 305 so just right size (might upgrade to 405 at some point as I prefer overfiltering) with an airpump connected to two air-thingies (a circular thingy and a long thingy, technical term has escaped me )

From a quick bit of research all my fish fall into roughly about 24c, 7.0 (or slightly higher)Ph, and about 10-11dGH.

What ever suggestions are made need to be peaceful and ideally colourful fish - I was thinking of a pair of nice angelfish but they prefer softer, more acidic water from what I can see online.

I'm planning to get another cat fish of some kind or other for the bottom of the tank - doesn't have to be an algae eater - I just love catfish so a suggestion for a nice bottom deweling catfish would also be welcome.

I'm asking for suggestions as there are so many fish out there I don't even know where to start in trying to decide.

(I'd rather not have any mollies - a) the water isn't right and B) they breed like.... mollies, c) the wife's got enough of them....)

Angelfish prefer soft water, but my water is hard and they're fine in it. If you choose to get angels, definitely get them as small as you can so they grow up with your smaller fish. If not, they'll probably eat your danios and be mean to the others. There are some pretty cool plecos out there as far as catfish go, although they're not catfish but they're bottom feeders. Just don't get the huge ones that could devour your small fish.

I think you'd be okay with a pair of Angelfish, i've got mine with danios and their fine. If not a few boesmani rainbows would add a load of colour. As for a catfish, one of the smaller plecs would be good, theres quite a few, i have the queen arabesque which is interesting. Good luck anyway.

Thanks,

Looking around I think it will be a while before I get any angel's... not really seen any I like yet.

The two hitchhiking syno euro's sorted out my bottom dwelers, I just need to get two more peppered corys to keep the current 4 cory's happy.

Think I'll leave it for a while - I've got a shoal now of scissortails and a shoal of danio's so really don't want any more soaling fish...

Are there any fish (other than red tailed black sharks) which are happy either as pair or solo fish - ideally colourful as most of my inmates are either black (the cat's) or silver (the danio's and scissortails)?

I'm leaning towards the gourami's - just going to decide when I see two fish I like :)

Thanks for the advice.
