Tank Mate For A 4-5.5" Red Tailed Tinfoil Barb..?

I cannot accurately measure him, so I'm going to ballpark his length within the 4.-5.5" range. He is currently housed in a fully cycled 20 gallon tank. I understand and acknowledge he will rapidly outgrow the tank and will be prepared to remedy this problem later on down the line, with a new tank. For now, though, as a shoaling fish, he seems lonely. I have another tank with marble mollies, silver mollies, and a few swordtails. Could I migrate a molly or two in there with him? They're about 2.5 inches each. Thanks !

Given that he's going to need a 5 foot tank down the line are you sure you're ready to make that jump?

You'd be better off rehoming him and if you do get a suitable tank further down the line get 6 or so, given their nature that's the smallest sized group I would go with.

get more tinfoil barbs, and move him into a bigger aquarium.
