Tank Leaked, Very Little Water Left

I have a UV sterilizer for my 30 gallon tank. While I was gone, the output tube that pumps water back into the tank fell out. It pumped ALL BUT 2 GALLONS ONTO MY FLOOR. Aside from having to replace the carpet, I now have an issue.

I filled it up a bit when I moved it... there's probably 5 gallons in there now, maybe about a foot of water. There is not enough water in there for my filter, so right now, I only have the UV sterilizer running. Will this be okay for a few days? I don't want to fill it up all the way since I'm going to be moving it back to my room in about three days and can't pick up a tank with 300 lbs of water in it...

no, the bacteria in your filter will die and you will have to re-cycle

Just fill her up and when it's time to move it...... syphon some water out again......???

I thought that might shock the fish with such a huge change in the water, but maybe it will be okay?

Yes.... it'll be ok..... just make sure your water treatment ppl did not dose your water supplies on the day.... (I regurarly give 90% water changes - with straight tap water) (repeat) just make sure your water treatment ppl did not dose your water supplies on the day....
