hi, i got a tank which seems to kill anything in it :( i was wondering if any had a way i could sterilize it or something like that

thanks :)

what tank is it? Is it an aqua one 600 by any chance?

Emma

it is likely to be one of two things IMO. Existing parasites in the glass or even the silicone, or bad bacteria in the filter. Emptying the tank, and scrubbing with vinegar or lemon juice (acid) basically will sterilise the tank, and completely changing filter media will sort out the bacteria. Add some bactenites from LFS and you are good to go again

Strange question to ask, just curious???
I agree a strange question but with good reason. The top filtration method on this tank is renowned for harbouring bad bacteria and parasites. I know that 8 people who have had this tank had major death.

Oh, 8 people all with the exact same tank all having deaths proven from the same filtration method! Guess Aquaone should know about the findings of your research. Oh, I see you are a very pretty Vet (not that being pretty has anything to do with it!) Personally, I do not know 8 people with tanks let alone with the same make and model of tank but it's the first I have heard of this. (hopefully, my 850 and 380 which have experienced no problems of any kind are different to the 600) BTW you are not a Vet in Cornwall are you, you look familiar? (I have a daughter in the trade)

Nooooo!
I've just purchased an AquaMode 600 as my first proper aquarium (I had a bowl before :D).
Hoping this problem won't arise :S.
Any way of solving the problem of bad bacteria in the filter?

Emmsy was kinda a fraud i think, dont know much about it. so dont know if this is true or not eBenZo

She did lie alot so no I wouldn't believe a word she said.

Okay thanks!
Fraud?

I haven't got any fish yet...waiting for the cycle thing, but I've noticed some faint cloudiness in the tank which can be seen clearly in the light of the lamp. The precipitate is whitish in colour but it only noticeable as you get close. What could this be? Should filter handle such problems?

Finally, am I posting correctly, or should this come under a new thread?
THANKS!

How long has the tank been set up.
Cloudy tanks can be due to the subsrate the first few days.
Also cloudy tanks can be a bacterial bloom.
