My tank is NEARLY finished cycling and I was wondering what the specialists think of the fish that I would like to put in the tank - its not a hard and fast list, just an idea at the moment, from the research I have done.

My tank is 31 x 12 x 12 (54 litre/11 gal)

4 Zebra Danio
6 Blue Tetra (or cardinal or neon)
4 Pandy Cory
1 Betta
a snail or two

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate 25
PH - 7.5

I think that will be enough for a start and I'm obviously not going to add them all at once. Which of the above list would you add first? And, if you feel this is not a good mix, please let me know any sugegstions. I just want some colourful fish that will be happy in my tank and live together peacefully.

Thanks :good:

I would be careful and keep an eye on the tetras, as they are known to be nippy , and may nip the betta. Betta are beautiful and i keep mine with harlequins and danios sucessfully but some people find the danios manic swimming annoys the betta. My boy is just a chilled out dude

So i would say:

by all means get your cardinals or neons but watch them for nippyness,
watch the bettas in their tanks in the store and pick one that seems to be more amiable
and get some danios, they are lovely little fish!

:)

p.s any bottom dwellers are generally alright with bettas as they occupy a different water area

hope this helps and happy fish keeping :good:

i would not go for danio's or tetra's in a 10gal, they need a bit more room than that really.

need to go for one of the smaller species of rasbora or something like that if you want a shoal of fish.

good point miss wiggle i didnt read the first post properly, read 154 litres instead of 54! Harlequins are really pretty little fish, highly recommended.

Thanks - I'll keep looking. I didn't realise that the danios would need more room, but will certainly bear that in mind.
