Tank In Need Of Something

Ok here is my tank with some pics of the inhabitants, unfortunatly, it just all seems a bit.. well.... dull! Im looking for tips for making my tank impressave. As with plants, all the ones except the eldodea and the Sword? Have died! The huge plant is plastic but is good quality.

2 Plevachromis taenitus
3 shrimp not sure what kind
7 Neon Tetras
1 female crowntail betta

The tank is 32 Gallons

Im looking for decor and inhabitant suggestions, thanks,

It needs colour (a bit. not too much) (red plants and stuff)
Maybe a mixture of substrates? i have half gravel half sand, looks ace and doesnt seem to mix.
Needs built up at the back corners, rocks and plants.
maybe get a diff bulb that enhances colours
more rocks and different types.

Just thought you'd like to know that your shrimp is an Amano. also known as Algae Shrimp in my LFS.

hmmmm? maybe a bigger bit of bog wood with moss covering it, or those fake mangrove root things to go in the middle.
