At the moment i have the tanks in my signature as they are.....

aorund x-mas my 25gallons comminity fish will move into the tank that should arrive soon.

I'm planning to keep a apir of convicts as i have 5 fry that i'm raising up in my rekord 70 at the moment.

I would like/thinking of having some severums and wondering if a 3ft tank will be big enough for them?

25uk gallon/115 litre with couple of sevrums
22uk gallon/100 litre with a pair of convicts once I find a pair in my lot then the others will be passed on.

I'm getting rid of the lobster and and will put a few plecs in that tank instead aswell.

i'm just wondering if these size tanks will be enough for these loely fish!! The 3ft/25 gallon might be changed to a larger rio tank once I empty it, probable the rio 125 or rio 180.

I looked in the fish index and the min sizes are in US gallons which i don't know the conversion rate of.....!!!

cheers

I'm not sure of the conversion either :p ... But i do know that a full grown Severum should be in no less than a 50gal IMO...ALso a higher tank is better for them than a longer one as they get quite tall...I love my severum...such a friendly little fish with lots of personality. Hope i helped!! :)

My tank is quite high at 18" but after going into work today and finding we have 1 full size severum brought in i would no way put it in my 3ft. Although it may have been slightly deceptive being in a short shop display tank with equal size tin foils and a big ol silver shark!!

Tryuly is a beutiful fish but I'ved thought of them being agresive which I liked the idea of...

Would a pair of convicts do fine in my 30" tank though? Would just need to think up something for me 3fter!!

They do look quite big when full grown dont they :D ...I have a breeding pair of convicts in a 30us/gal and even though i love them...they are mean buggers and really a fish suited to a species tank. They have lots of character and are very hardy but not an ideal community fish.

paul_v_biker,

We use Imperial gallons here in Canada too. Here are some conversion figures for you:

US gallon = 3.758 litres
Imperial gallon = 4.546 litres

Imperial gal. X 1.21 = US gal.
US gal. x 0.83 = Imperal gal.

Cheers

yeh sure was a beuty, sold today though :byebye:

I'm guessing the convicts would be ok with a few plecs and catfish?

thats for that 1 will have to rember it!! always know the litres to gallon 1!!

EDIT- actually have you got your figures messed up as you won't use 2 different numbers to go from US-Uk the UK-US it would be the same but you devide or times.....like to times uk gallons by 4,55 to get litres and divde litres by 4.55 to get uk gallons......
