anyone got an opinion on this item, looks good, the only problem i would possibly have is passing on of disease from their fish.

What do you think ?

I wouldn't trust it myself. Besides, the most reliable bacteria booster has been around since aquariums have - colonized filter media or gravel from other tanks. You can find them for free at the fish store, or often a friends place, or from another tank of your own if you have one.

Don't know if you can get it in the UK, but we used a product called Bio-Spira to cycle our 75 gal and it worked brilliantly... It's abit expensive, but well worth it...

I have never used Bio Spira but have heard good things about it. I think you get 2 doses, one for the start and another for a week later. My understanding is that you put the first dose in along with your fish load and it does the rest. One key thing though is that it has been handled properly by the LFS you buy it from. If it isn't been kept refrigerated, the bacteria will be dead thus useless.

I used Bio-Spira on my new 20 gallon. It worked overnight--just some Bio-Spira and five Tiger Barbs (now 8 and 3 cories). I got 3oz for 24.95 here in the Atlanta area.
