Hi I have just joined TFF and just wanted to ask other members etc for ideas,i have an 8ft long,2ft high and 1.5ft wide tank. My other tank is 5ftx2ftx2ft. Both are empty at the moment as I have moved and my new home cannot fit my 8ft in it but have a garage I am thinking of making into my "sit down and chill wiv the fishes" room but as I am on dla this I hope will be done on a budget. My 5ft will be coming indoors. Anyhow!!
I have just seen a set up in my fishy mag and it contained 6 silver dollars and 6 excichlasoma pearsei. I am asking if my 8ft is ok for me to have these fish or not wide enough?. Any help guys n gals would be great.

The excichlasoma pearse grows to 17 inches long.  The silver dollar about 6.  In my opinion then length of the fish should not be longer than 1/3 the width of the tank.  Otherwise they would probably have a hard time turning around.   The excichlasoma pearse is too long.  The silver dollar is at the limit.

Your silvber dollars would be fine. I had about 8 large ones in a shoal in my old 150g tank and they looked amazing.
