I have recently set up a 70 litre tank and decided to add a few fish. But the rummy noses i added were pale and wernt red in colour at the nose. I then transfered them to my parents tank and they immediatly changed in to their natural colour. Why is this? Help!

We need more info than that. Established tank already or new tank? Wattage of the lights in question.

:hi: to the forum. It's a great place!!! :hyper:

My tank is quite new, but i left it a week before i added the rummy-noses. i started with a few black fantom tetras. The light came with my juwel rekord 70 (not sure what voltage) and i have white gravel with a white rock as decoration. I have added a five artifitial plants so far and have a black background. does that help?

it could be the stress of being in an uncycled tank, you will need to cycle it before adding any more fish

Cycling! <- a very helpful topic about cycling with fish, since you already have them, if you do as the link says then hopefully your fish will make it through :good:

If the light came with it as a set then that's probably ok. The tank has to cycle w/ammonia before you add fish. READ THIS it will help you soo much!

Otherwise the fish will die if it's not cycled and they are just dropped in. Ammonia burns them and then the nitrite suffocates them. Not a fun way to die

I take it your parents tank has been established for quite some time?

--edit--
lilfishie beat me to the punch! LOL

I didnt know if it was because of the brightness of the whiteness! Does it make a difference what colour gravel and decoration i have?

but how does my tank cycle if no fish are added. surely it needs bacteria.
