Just a quick one i think the grey twisty bit on the top of the filter outlet is supposed to be just above water so that you can open it up to allow air bubbles into the water being pushed out. It should run fine as it is but thought i would mention it.

Yeah i know but i use the bottom outlet for mid tank flow. I have a bubble curtain on the opposide side of the tank which airates the tank and gives the surface movement. plus the fish love swimming through it...

bubble curtains dont airate tanks - they airate the air above the water where the bubbles pop :hey:

i'll have to include a side shot cause they are mid ground. i have some hairgrass that i want to put in the front but not to sure how it will look. still need to find out what some of the plants are!

The bubble producing inductors perform no useful purpose for the fish. They make bubbles that people like to watch. Any air supply in a modern tank is simply decorative. In an older tank it may have been what drove a filter's circulation but that is seldom the case today. Bubbles make water near them flow to the top of the tank where the water is exposed to the surface and has time enough to absorb oxygen. A filter moving the water around in your tank will also expose all of the water to the tank's water surface and allow that water to absorb oxygen. A nice looking air stone will move lots of water and the circulation will certainly result in increased oxygenation. A properly functioning filter will do the same thing without making that racket of bubbles popping on the water's surface. If you like bubbles, by all means use them in your tank. If you like a quiet tank, like I do, get rid of most of the bubbles and the oxygen in the tank will be just fine anyway. Modern power filters provide so much circulation that oxygenation is seldom ever a problem.
