i've currently got a 2ft 75ltr tang tank, it has 1 calvus, 1 juli, 1 punk, 2 cat fish and some small rainbows.

the cat fish need to go and i'm in the process of re-homing them. i've now got the green light for a slightly bigger tank

it will 32" in length, 14" deep and 16" high, makes it about 30 US gallons.

i've read allot about this tank not been big enough for mbuna but i've also read allot of people make it work.

i was thinking i could put 3 yellow labs and a couple of Pseudotropheus sp zebra long pelvic fish in there (maybe keep my catfish and rainbows).

what are peoples thoughts on this, i do like my tangs but i'm after abit more colour and movement.

or could i actually put a couple of Neolamprologus Leleupi tangs with my current stock

Would advise against the Leleupi, even in the bigger tank, don't know how a single specimen would work out but if you had a pair that started breeding it could get nasty in there...

Hopefully one of the mbuna folks can offer some hopeful advice. . .

Cheers, Sean

cheers Sean, the Leleupi was my only real option to add some vibrant colour to my current setup, all other tangs with colour are too big.

think i will be going the mbuna route, anyone got advice? its much needed.

cheers

lol.......i do love my calvus, my juli is a terror, my punk just goes with the flow but i want more colour and i'm not going to get that from tangs with only a 32" length tank.

small mbuna seems the only choice and Ps. Saulosi at that without major blood shed....one species but with bright yellow and blue fish, might even get then to breed!

imho id say the tank isnt big enough to house mbunas . really a 4 foot 55g and upwards .
