I actually don't care about the Halimeda, it's easy to remove and doesn't grow that fast. The Caulerpa isn't at insane levels but it's there.

I went out to the LFS today and picked up a Flame Angel after 2 years of wanting one. My friend got a Kole Tang. I hope I can still get a bristletooth with the Flame Angel in there. They had a few Kole and the cutest little Chevron (for $180, mind you) and even a Tomini (though it wasn't very nice).

chevrons are cute now but my god do they turn boring imo! flame angel very very nice fish with a slightly disheartening price tag over here in the uk dunno what prices are like for them in the usa.

In any case if you are going with the I will grow the tang a bit and sell it off as it grows route, any tang will do. I'm not suggesting this method btw :)

You can not guarantee, however that any individual fish will eat the individual algae that you have, be aware of that. The best method for algae control is remote filteration, whether its a cryptic fuge, skimmer (my 2 favorites) or a algae refuge or on that sized tank, frequent water changes! The reality is sometimes you just need to get those rocks out and show them MR TOOTHBRUSH :) and, in some cases mr muratic acid.
Getting nutrients under control is a must for long term success.
Relying on the live stock as an end all control to algae issues is destined to leave you and the livestock disappointed.

there about double the price here.

Ouch.

I suppose you're right. Unfortunately, my aquascaping is such that it is impossible to show my rocks Mr. Toothbrush without doing serious damage and/or killing my corals. I have many big rocks with little rocks in between,, in which the rock in between was purchased with coral and it has spread to the other rocks. Mr. Blowtorch is also not an option. It's not hard to remove manually, as if you get a good grip on the Caulerpa you can rip the runners right out. It's just tedious, really, and upsets the inhabitants of my tank (as well as my dad, who is angry at what the salt water has done to the hardwood floor  )
